Deep concentration and ability to focus on a task is a skill you have to master to determine your productivity. Your productivity either at work, school, or anything you do is influenced by the focus you give to the task. When you stay focused you will achieve your goals in time. Unfortunately, if you are constantly distracted, it will be difficult to reach your goals. Read on for how to boost concentration and how to stay focused.
1. Eliminate Distractions
Get rid of anything that will steal your attention. This is the first thing to do boost concentration. It is hard to focus when you have things that keep distracting you. For example in a library talking, food and many other things are prohibited so that people can be focused without distractions. It is the same when you are working, put your phone aside, stay away from the television, and stay where you will not be disturbed. Put signs to tell people not to disturb. Eliminate or reduce possible distraction because according to research and studies you take 21 minutes to regain your focus once lost.
2. Have a Plan
Never let yourself get faced with the question of what should I do? Always plan your tasks according to importance and priority. Staying focused will depend on a plan because if you take on tasks randomly others might pop up that are more demanding. Without a plan, your mind will wander around thinking about what to do. It will take your focus and your time. Base your plans on time if you want to be more focused and productive. Timing your tasks gives you a different mindset because it sets deadlines. Having a plan outlines your goals and gives them more concentration.
3. Have Regular and Organized Breaks
Some tasks can take long and demand a 24/7 schedule but it is important to take a break. Taking a break allows you to recharge your energy and renew your focus. Move around during breaks if your task is undertaken when sitting. When you take a break your energy will go up and this will bring your focus and mood up again. Organize your break based on time. You can choose to work for an hour then take a 20 minutes break before starting again. Take your mind off the task completely during break time. The break should not only be physically but also mentally.
4. Get Enough Sleep
Lack of enough sleep can adversely affect your health. When it comes to staying focused, lack of sleep affects your thinking and clarity. It also makes you exhausted easily. You cannot stay focused if you do not get to sleep enough. It will negatively affect your ability to be productive. Do not stay overnight to work on a task. Stop, sleep and try again in the morning when your energy is high. If you don’t sleep enough at night, take naps in the afternoons.
5. Train Yourself to Focus
Most people are easily distracted or are used to multitasking and cannot focus. Train yourself to focus. Start by practicing to pay attention to tasks that do not take long. Learn to focus for 5 minutes before you can focus for 50 minutes. Build up slowly and soon you will be able to focus on long demanding tasks. Try meditation classes to help train how to focus.
Productivity and success are greatly influenced by your level of focus on the task. Have goals to aim at and an executable plan. Rest well so that you get energetic. Train how to focus in the morning when your energy is high. A little discipline will get you focused and more productive.
